LED PRO Poster – Interview with Gary Kayye at Lavnch Week!

Here is a brief overview of the topics addressed in this interview with Gary Kayye at the Lavnch

Gary Kayye:

Wow that was a great way to introduce you to a company that maybe many of you don’t know, Nummax and it’s LED PRO Poster. Steven Phillips, VP sales, how are you doing?

Steven Phillips:

I’m doing well, how about yourself Gary.

Gary Kayye: What a timing to release an affordable and easy to install digital display

I mean you couldn’t have timed this launch any better considering we’re getting ready to enter a post COVID-19 world. We will have to deliver messages in places that we didn’t have to worry about delivering messages before. I mean usually when you are a fast food restaurant you are expecting that they may need to be on the inside the restaurant. But now we have to deliver messages on the outside for health procedures and also for marketing purpose in order to attract customers. Talk about the history of the LED PRO Poster and how fast you did this considering COVID-19 is only three or four months old?

Steven Phillips: We have been working on the LED PRO Poster for the past 12 months. But the COVID-19 Context make our digital poster more relevant than ever.

Well you know it’s actually one of the stories where I don’t want to use the right place at the right time, but the LED Poster came out right in the middle of this COVID-19. But the project started over twelve months ago and the original product launch date was for InfoComm 2020, which also coincides with LAVNCH Week.  And here we have this wonderful product in our hands, which not only will help businesses to promote themselves, but now they can also communicate health procedures and how to do business within, once you cross the doors.

Gary Kayye: It seems far from the traditional thick and massive LED display, am I right?

Well, everyone obviously, everyone knows how LED works nowadays. But this is a quite unique product. It is not like the average LED display that you see when you walk around the show floor, which are huge and are like building blocks to giant walls. In your case, what I was seeing in that video is something very sharp in terms of look. Something that can be placed on glass and not being as intrusive as the typical LED that you see. How does that work exactly, tell me how the structure works, how it’s made and how you get signals to it?

Steven Phillips: We have created a LED display extremely thin (one inch – 30 mm) with a slick design which includes a content management software

It’s a nice way to present it and in essence, this is really a version two. We started window signage at many years back with all the downfalls that you mention there, with the fact that it was four to five inches thick and extremely heavy. You know the LED concept is still the same except now we have been able to create a LED display extremely thin. And our content manager software is now built into it eliminating the need for a multi player or some sort of external connected computer.

Gary Kayye:

This is a system on a chip kind of design?

Steven Phillips:

Absolutely, this LED digital display is only about an inch (30 mm) in thickness. And yes, it was made to try and alleviate a bit of that cumbersome screen in the window. This LED PRO Poster is completely different from your traditional LED as it is slick and thin. We design it to compete against the printed poster. So, it is really the size of a poster with an embedded software which is extremely easy to use and intuitive. I mean it’s as simple as logging into your account or your screen in this case. You can upload content, can create playlists, schedule playlists for weeks and months in advance. The advantage versus a poster or static posters is to create advertisement for months in advance and if things change, like we seen very much lately, well you can go back in and change it. You will not get stuck with that printed material that’s been pre done or sitting in the warehouse.

Gary Kayye:

So, you can deploy it obvious, I would assume you deployed multiple screens simultaneously so if you are a fast food restaurant you can send it to all restaurants simultaneously. What kind of creative software package is included? Obviously, that means there must be a CMS there. Is it managing both the date and time of the content transmission?

Steven Phillips:

The content manager is Nummax Manger All In One software. This modern version of the software not only allows you to upload and create playlists you can also control all your LED screens from our account. So if you have access to internet anywhere across the world, you can control your screens. A local version of the software is also available for on premise basis control.

Gary Kayye: Is this digital solution sun readable?

I see this going into a lot of retail locations facing the street. And you know there are certain times of day when the sun is directly shooting into those windows how bright is this and how you sun readable is it?

Steven Phillips: We have a product line which includes 5 products with pixel pitch from 2.5mm to 5 mm and brightness between 1,200 nits to 5,000 nits. So whatever the conditions, your LED Poster will be visible

We have five different models of LED PRO Poster which are quite different not only in terms of resolutions, but also in terms of brightness. The two high brightness models — the 4 and 5mm pitch — are 5000 nits. With those two models, when sun glare right into the window at that peak time of the day, you will be able to see the screen. And as a lot of retail outlets have tinted windows, these high brightness screens are relevant. We also have the lower 1,500 nits. Compared to a static poster or an off-the-shelf LCD TV, 1500 nits is huge. And other than the one-hour a day where the sun is really into your storefront, the 1,500 nits will do very well the job.

Gary Kayye: What is your product lifespan?

Yeah and just put that in perspective that a typical LCD is in the range of 3 to 500 nits and even the super bright LCDs are sometimes 6 and 700 nits, so you’re talking about significantly brighter and it’s going to last a lot longer. What sort of guarantees are or specs you put there as far as how long it will operate how many hours?

Steven Phillips: With a lifespan of 10 years we do way more than a poster or any commercial LCD.

LED has a minimum lifespan of about ten years or a hundred thousand hours. It is doubling up any commercial LCD available on the market.

Gary Kayye:

Well more than doubling.

Steven Phillips:

We will try to stay modest there, but again if you want to compare it to other electronics, great. But compared to a static poster which is good for about a few weeks only and right into the garbage…

Gary Kayye:

Yeah.

Steven Phillips:

You can almost call this ECO advertising. By using LED screens, you can broadcast for the next decade without using other consumables such as printed posters. It comes with a three-year warranty. And as LED is a rugged technology, once everything is settled you just have run your campaign with being worried for the technology. And this LED PRO Poster is the second generation of a product that have proved its reliability. This means that you will have in your hands an extremely solid product.

Gary Kayye: Are your digital displays adapting to external ambient light?

You can actually see it Nummax.com/ledposter. This new one is called the LED Pro Poster. And let me ask you a question, we go back to the outdoor issue, you know, do you have the ability to adjust the light output over time or does have any sort of ambient light detection because, you know, obviously got a lot brighter at noon then you will it seven or eight PM. Do you have any sort of ambient light adjustment capabilities are just program and that based on the time of day?

Steven Phillips: In our LED broadcasting display, brightness is programmed and controlled by our software which provide the perfect brightness at any time of the day.

In this particular model, we have decided to take out the ambient light sensor because our software is proven to be a more reliable technology. Because with light sensors,

depending on where you place them and the light within your store, it is not optimal. But with our software, not only can you adjust it you know instantly at any time of day but you can as you can also program it. I think that’s the best way to go.

Gary Kayye: How easy is the installation of the LED PRO Poster?

Now, one of your users referenced your install as the IKEA of AV products. Basically, that’s how easy it is to build and install one of these? Is it basically a really simple process? Am I correct saying that you provide an IKEA installation guide?

Steven Phillips: We have designed our LED Poster to be a 4-step / 20-minute installation

You’re right, one within every box. In each box, you will find your screen, all the required parts and a complete step by step installation guide. We also have an installation video. And it is really easy to install. In fact, we have designed it to be a 20-minute installation. Basically, you have to install a top plate up along the wall or the ceiling, hang the screen down and then the trick is done! As you do more and more of them you can probably cut down a few minutes every time.

Gary Kayye: A product with a very appealing price point and relevant for many industries

Its price range is from 775$ USD and 1,965$ USD depending on the brightness and the resolution. I see it in QSR applications, drug stores, superstores, grocery stores and malls! I think this is really cool simple turnkey product. You can see it Nummax.com/ledposter.

Steven, I appreciate you being here today explaining it. Thanks for your time today Steven I appreciate it.

Steven Phillips:

Thank you, Gary. Have a wonderful day.
